When the Tuskegee Airmen took to the skies in World War II their weapons were aimed at two enemies: foreign fascism and domestic bigotry. The famed all-black army air force unit compiled a stellar record in combat and also advanced the cause of racial equality at home. Today, serving veterans continue to emphasize the themes of courage, confidence and preparation that led to their remarkable accomplishments.
