Book Discussion: "How Ukraine Became a Market Economy and Democracy"

Anders Åslund, Senior Fellow, Peterson Institute for International Economics, and former Title VIII-Supported Research Scholar, Kennan Institute

Anders Åslund explores Ukraine's post-communist transformation from 1991 to 2008, how and why key policy decisions were made, and what Ukraine should do to overcome the ravages of its political and financial crises. At present, Ukraine has been one of the countries worst hit by the current global financial crisis, and Ukraine has once again turned to the IMF for assistance. Dr. Åslund will discuss the requirements and chances of success.

This event will be held in the 6th floor Flom auditorium.
