Although leaders and ordinary citizens are primarily concerned about what the new administration portends for their own interests, long-held views of American democracy and values have also been challenged.

Overview

The election of Donald Trump as the 45th President of the United States has spurred a range of hopes and concerns in Mainland China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Although leaders and ordinary citizens are primarily concerned about what the new administration portends for their own interests, long-held views of American democracy and values have also been challenged.  This discussion included insights and interpretations of the election from two leading U.S.-based Chinese journalists.
