Overview

 

The adoption of the Paris climate agreement represents a historic effort to reconcile the pursuit of prosperity with the reality of global warming. Latin American countries played a key role in securing the agreement and have offered potential solutions on coping with global warming. Achieving the Paris Agreement’s ambitious goals and advancing the transition to a low-emission and resilient future present considerable opportunities and challenges for the region. How are Latin American countries confronting climate change? What are the prospects for the implementation of the Paris Agreement in Latin America? What are the main factors which might speed up or undermine the transition to low-emission and resilient economies in the region?
