Short-Term Grants
Deadline: Closing dates are March 1, June 1, September 1, and December 1. The next deadline for receipt of Short-Term Scholar applications and supporting materials is September 1, 2011. Applicants will be notified approximately one month later.

Eligibility: These Title VIII grants are available to American academic experts and practitioners, including advanced graduate students, engaged in specialized research requiring access to Washington, DC and its research institutions. Grants are for one month and do not include residence at the Wilson Center.

Project Scope: EES offers short-term grants to scholars working on policy relevant projects on East Europe. While Southeast Europe remains a primary focus, projects on Central Europe and the Baltic states are again eligible. Projects should focus on fields in the social sciences and humanities including, but not limited to: Anthropology, History, Political Science, Slavic Languages and Literatures, and Sociology. All projects should aim to highlight their potential policy relevance.

Application Information: To apply for a Title VIII Short-Term award, the applicant must submit the following:
- a concise (1-2 page) description of his/her research project;
- a curriculum vitae;
- a statement of preferred and alternate dates of residence in Washington, DC;
- two letters or recommendation in support of the research to be conducted at the Center.
