structured, focused cross-case comparison of three ethnopolitical conflicts in ethnic republics within the Russian Federation with the aim to test a series of hypotheses on interrelationship between Democratization and Ethnic Peace.; The study’s normative concern is to evaluate the merits of different forms of ethnopolitical conflict regulation, and to establish whether post-communist multiethnic systems can be stabilized in ways that are compatible with liberal democratic values and institutions.
