Andrew H. Cummins is the Founder and Chief Investment Officer of Explorador Capital Management, LLC, an investment management firm based in New York and has offices in Buenos Aires and São Paulo. Andrew formed Explorador in 1996 and has since been focused on equity investments in Latin America. The firm manages $250 mm in capital for institutions and families in the US and Europe. Andrew has served on the boards of directors of several publicly-listed companies in Brazil and Chile. From 1992 through 1995, Andrew worked at the predecessor to AshmoreEMM, an emerging market equity-focused asset manager, based in the Washington, DC area. At AshmoreEMM, Andrew worked as a company analyst and on portfolio construction for the firm’s investments in Chile, Argentina, and Peru.
From 1988 to 1990, Andrew worked for JMB Realty Corporation as an associate focused on real estate private equity. He was involved with 14 transactions ranging in size from $14 mm to over $1 bn. He holds a B.S. from the University of California at Berkley. In 1988, Andrew earned a B.S. from the University of California at Berkeley, and an MBA from Harvard University, where he focused on corporate competition and strategy and completed a field study focused on South America for Professor Michael E. Porter. He has worked and traveled in Latin America over the last 22 years and speaks Spanish and Portuguese.
