Full Biography
Augusto Varas holds a Ph. D. Sociology from Washington University in St. Louis. He is the author of numerous articles and books on civil society, the armed forces, democracy and international politics. He served as an adviser for the General Secretariat of the Presidency Ministry of President Patricio Aylwin, and as a Ford Foundation Representative for the Andean Region and the Southern Cone. Dr. Varas is President of EQUITAS Foundation in Chile.
