Dr. Bernardo González-Aréchiga is Dean of the Graduate School of Public Administration and Public Policy (EGAP) at Monterrey Tec (ITESM). He holds a dual role as the Director of the School at the Monterrey Campus and as the National Coordinator of the National programs of EGAP. He was an Independent Director (Member of the Board) of the Institute for the Protection of Bank Savings (IPAB), a decentralized organism of the Mexican Federal Government. He was Deputy Chief of the Presidential Office for Public Policy, Advisor for financial matters to the Chief Economic Advisor to the President. He was Joint-coordinator of former President Vicente Fox's financial transition team, he was the Founding Chief Executive Officer of MexDer, the Mexican Futures Exchange.
At the Mexican Stock Exchange, he was Executive Vice President for Derivative Products, Executive Vice President for Planning. He was Coordinator of the development and implementation of the Mexican Warrants Market and the Second-Tier Market (madcap stocks), the International Section of the Exchange. He was Director of the Economics Department at El Colegio de la Frontera Norte (a think-tank at the Mexican Border region with the USA). He was also a consultant for the Negotiating Teams for NAFTA and OMC regarding the maquiladora-in bond industry.
He has written 3 books and more than 60 articles on the Mexican Economy and the Financial Sector, which have been published in Mexico and abroad. He was awarded the Chaudhuri International Book Award and an Eisenhower Fellowship. He is Founder Editor of the Mexican Journal of Economics and Finance. He obtained his BA in Economics from Monterrey Tec, an MA in Economics at Essex University in England, and a PhD in Economics at The University of Southern California.
