Paul Nitze’s public career had placed him at or near the pinnacle of the policy process during some of the most crucial moments in 20th century American history. He has drawn on his experience and expertise to formulate a singular pattern of strategic thought, and played a major role in drafting a policy paper that profoundly affected U.S. strategy policy.
