Discussion of the political influence of the Russian Imperial and Soviet armed forces, concentrating on the pre-revolutionary period, suggesting areas in which the experience of the imperial army either was or was not similar to that of its Soviet counterpart. Researched Russian judicial and procuratorial service (generally) and promotions and appointments within the service (particularly). Relates as many overlap with primary research on State Council 1894-1914.
