"Europe: The Use of the Concept in Contemporary Russian and American Sources"

Project Summary

The project analyzes how the concept of Europe has been used in Russian and American publications to express Russian national identity and American conceptions of how far Europe can be extended to the East. It aims to place current consideration of this problem in historical context and to consider the question of whether the conventional conception of Europe is still considered to have objective content that excludes Russia.
