Full Biography

Gleb Cherkasov is a well-known Russian journalist. In 2018, he left Kommersant newspaper in a sign of protest against the unjust dismissal of his colleagues after seven years as the deputy editor-in-chief of the paper. Before this, he was the author and editor of the opinion section of Gazeta.ru. He was the chief editor of Politbureau journal from 2002-2003. From 1998-2000, he served as the editor for the politics and economics section of the paper Vremya MN, and in 2002 was the editor for the political and economics section of Vremya Novosti. Before this, he worked in the politics and economics section of the newspaper Segodnya (Today), but left in 1997 because of changes to the newspaper’s editorial policy.
He is the co-author of Daily Life of Duma State Deputies (Russian, 2007) with Svetlana Lolaeva, and the author of How We Did Not Become a Gang (Russian, 2019). He graduated from the history department of Moscow State University in 1994.
