Project Summary

A study of Russian policy vis-à-vis Ukraine and Belarus in connectin with the parliamentary electoral campaign in December 1999 and the presidential elections in July 2000. Queries whether Russian leadership will bring more pressure to bear on Ukraine, using the Russian minority in Ukraine and Ukraine’s economic dependence as a means of pressure, or whether Russia’s president will try to improve relations.
