Full Biography

Ivan Zarak is the Vice Minister of Economy Finance for the Republic of Panama. Previously, he served on the campaign of President Juan Carlos Varela, advising him on economic issues and assisting in the development of his platform. Prior to his roles in public service, he worked for many years in the banking sector. Most recently, he was the founding partner of Prival Bank, S.A., a general license bank in Panama, where he served as the Senior Vice President of Commercial Banking until 2013. From 2002 until 2007, he was Senior Vice President of Investment Bank ing at Banistmo Securities, focusing on corporate finance, advisory services on mergers and acquisitions, and project finance. Prior to this role, he worked for Mesoamerica Investments in Costa Rica. Zarak graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering in 1995. After graduating, he returned to Panama and worked for two years at BankBoston Panama. In 1999, he completed his Master in Business Administration (MBA) with honors at Instituto Centroamericano de Administración de Empresas (INCAE) in Alajuela, Costa Rica.
