"The Soviet Union and Iranian Communism"

Project Summary

Provides the first thorough research and analysis of the Tudeh (pro-Soviet) party of Iran. Discusses its success within Iran, despite having been banned twice (in 1949 and then in 1983), its proscription and its internal strife. Demonstrates that Iranian Communism is a hybrid mode o fthought (Bolshevik-Asiatic) which, despite its defeats, may finally win because of the degeneration of the intellectual life in Iran.
