Reviews Western literature on the postwar evolution of Soviet perspectives on international affairs in order to broaden an understanding of Soviet conceptions of the international systems, definitions of détente, and the Soviet approach to America’s allies. Underscores the centrallity of the U.S. in postwar Soviet foreign policy by revealing how Canada’s role is primarily derived from its relation and proximity to the U.S.
