Full Biography

María Cristina Vallejo is a Professor of Ecological Economics and Microeconomics at the Department of Development, Environment and Territory at the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO), Ecuador. Before joining the faculty at FLACSO, she was a visiting researcher at the Institute of Environmental Science and Technology of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona under the Carolina Foundation Fellowship. Her research focuses on ecological economics, specializing in biophysical accounting and social metabolism and multi-criterial analysis as tools to understand the social, economic, and biophysical causes of environmental degradation in Latin America. She holds a Master’s degree in Economics, with a specialization in Ecological Economics, and a Ph.D. in Developmental Economics from FLACSO Ecuador.
