The Soviet Practice of Censoring Translations of Western Publications

Project Summary

Russian and Soviet censorship a study of the essential concerns that underlie the institution of censorship in imperial and Soviet Russia: the fear of alien values and ideas, the belief that the West is out to subvert the populace ideologically, the view of bourgeois ideas as inherently hostile to the USSR, the need to protect Soviet citizens from these dangerous foreign values, concepts, fashions and fads.
