Identifies Soviet muslims, notes policy shifts towards nationalism and relgion; patterns of recruitment and mobility between Soviet Muslims and the Communists; looks at the Muslim Intellectuals and the problem of historical continuity; examines religion as a social force, political ideology and the religious hierarchy; makes note of the future of the Soivet Muslims.
