"The Influence of Age, Sex and Nationality on Labor Force Composition: A Comparative Study of the Soviet Republics, 1939-1970"
Project Summary
Traces the impact of industrialization on the family, in particular the status of women and the social roles of young people. Advances a theory of social change that relates the effects of industrialization to its timaing and to the context of overall economic and political development in which it occurs. Investigates the relationship between the sexual division of labor in Tsarist Russia to the Russian Republic to the remaining republics of the USSR.
