Full Biography
Myra Burton is chief of the Africa and Americas Division in the U.S. Department of State, Office of the Historian. Burton compiles volumes on Southern Africa and North Africa for the Foreign Relations of the United States series. In addition to her work on the series, she developed an educational video project to facilitate the incorporation of foreign affairs in middle and high school classrooms, and has worked on several inter-Departmental and cross-cultural outreach projects. Prior to joining the Department of State, Burton taught African, African American and U.S. history classes at colleges and universities in San Diego County. Burton holds an M.A. and a B.A. in History from the University of San Diego.
