Dr. Rafis Abazov is a Project Manager for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) working on educational project in the developing post-conflict countries.
He was a short-term with the Wilson Center’s Kennan Institute in 2008. In the past, he has also held distinguished fellowships at the United Nations University (UNU, Tokyo) and as a fellow of British Academy and Salzburg Seminars.
Dr. Rafis Abazov has lectured widely in Europe, North America, and South-East Asia on contemporary Eurasian issues, global governance, and public policy reforms in developing world. His research interests include the internationalization of education, migration, SDGs, public policies and governance. He is the author of five books and numerous articles on the public, cultural and educational policies in Eurasia and contributor to a series of UNECE studies on innovation policies in Eurasia. He is also a regular contributor to Forbes Magazine (Kazakhstan), QS Higher Education (UK), Central Asia-Caucasus Analyst (USA) and some others.
In addition, as a project manager he has been working on managing international consultancy programs, teaching, moderating and facilitator (certified facilitator) international conferences, and international training on public policy analyses on SDGs, governance, education (focus on TVET and HE), youth policies, ICT and social innovations in Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Turkmenistan, South Korea and Switzerland.
