Women Writers and Feminist Writings in Twentieth-Century Russia

Project Summary

Traces the relationship between the changing position of women in society and their representations in literature. Mainly concentrates on work of Russian women writers who are also interested in feminist ideas, but also by male writers with similar interests. Attempts to compare the portrayal of women in literature by both male and female writers at different times, and to ascertain how important feminist ideas are to Russian women writers, in relation to other concerns.
