"Gender in the Political Discourse of Contemporary Russia"

Project Summary

The project focused on the analysis of exploiting the gender dicourse in contemporary Russian political rhetoric is aimed to investigate gender discourse as a weapon of political struggle in contemporary Russia; the ways of mobilizing of electorate with the help of gender discourse; the role of politics in shaping gender order. The research would assist to indentification the mechanisms of de-legitimating in political rhetoric, and the important ways of elimination of women from power in Russia. Comparison with American situation will help to understand which reasons of discrimination of women depend on political system, and which depend on shared conceptualization of masculine and feminine.
