Expert Bio

Victor Umaña is the Director of the Latin American Center for Competitiveness and Sustainable Development (CLACDS) at INCAE Business School, and Regional Director for the Social Progress Index in Mesoamerica. He has worked as trade policy specialist at the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation in Agriculture and trade negotiator at the Costa Rica Mission to the WTO in Geneva. Guest lecturer at several universities, including ETH Zurich, University of Zurich, University of Bern, and CATIE. A PhD candidate in International Political Economy at ETH Zurich, his main research interests are policy coherence for sustainable development and the political economy of trade agreements.
