Dr. Monde Muyangwa Facilitates Panels at the Africa Think Tank Summit in Rabat

From May 9-11, 2018, Africa Program Director Monde Muyangwa participated in the 2018 Africa Think Tank Summit, themed “Deepening Expertise and Enhancing Sustainability: Insights into Contemporary Challenges Facing African Think Tanks.” The Summit, held in Rabat, Morocco, was hosted by the OCP Policy Center and the Think Tank and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) of the University of Pennsylvania. High-level government officials, academics, and private sector leaders from Africa and beyond came together to discuss paths to progress for African think tanks.

Dr. Muyangwa chaired two panels at the Summit, under the themes of “Why Think Tanks Matter in Africa: Forging Strategic Partnerships with Policy Makers, Donors and the Public,” and “Women and Think Tanks: How to Provide Better Representation in Policy Making Dialogue.” The Summit explored topics including strategies on how to reform and innovate within a think tank setting, sharpen agriculture-focused research toward policy recommendations, increase the representation of women in think tanks, to maximize policy impact, and more. It was an open and inclusive event for leaders from many fields to deepen relationships and find solutions to pressing issues in African policy.
