The status of Pakistani women is woefully low; Pakistan ranks 127th out of 130 countries in the World Economic Forum's latest Global Gender Gap Index. This poor standing is reflected in Pakistan's media sector, where less than 5 percent of journalists are women. The Wilson Center's Asia Program, along with its Pakistan-based partner, Uks, has released a guide for media professionals that makes recommendations about working environments for Pakistan's journalists and about how to promote better coverage of women.
