The Wilson Center’s newest initiative is focusing on the changing environments at the Earth’s poles. From melting ice to energy production and the daily lives of residents, the Arctic and Antarctic will be receiving increased attention and the Wilson Center’s Polar Initiative will be ahead of the curve on many of those emerging topics. We spoke with the David Biette, director of the new initiative, and that discussion provides the focus for this edition of  Wilson Center NOW.
 
David Biette is Director of the Wilson Center’s Polar Initiative and a Senior Advisor to the Canada Institute. Prior to joining the Wilson Center, he served as Executive Director of the Association for Canadian Studies in the United States and as Political, Economic, and Public Affairs Officer at the Consulate General of Canada in New York City where he was the principal lead on energy, environment, and political issues. He has written extensively on U.S.-Canada relations and is co-editor of “Canada and the United States: Differences that Count,” which appeared in a new fourth edition in 2014.
 
John Milewski is the executive producer and managing editor of Wilson Center NOW and also serves as director of Wilson Center ON DEMAND digital programming. Previously he served as host and producer of Dialogue at the Wilson Center and Close Up on C-SPAN. He also teaches a course on politics and media for Penn State’s Washington Program
