Canada in NATO: Outlook for Canadian Leadership in the Transatlantic Alliance

Date & Time

Monday
Apr. 11, 2022
1:00pm – 2:00pm ET

Overview

Canada and NATO, faced with an evolving threat landscape, are at a crossroads. NATO members are weighing a pivot to new operational theaters in the Indo-Pacific, space, and the Arctic while maintining focus on an increasingly belligerent Russia. Canada, a middle power that has historically hitched its defense policy to NATO, is pushing to revitalize a national military that has been plagued with procurement issues and aging equipment while balancing defense spending with other national priorities.

Join us on Monday, April 11 for a conversation with Canada Institute Global Fellows Lindsay Rodman and Andrea Charron on Canada's historical contributions to NATO and the future of its role in the transatlantic alliance.

This event was recorded ahead of the release of Canada's federal budget on April 7, 2022.
