The World Development Report 2023: Forced Displacement
In this panel discussion titled “The World Development Report 2023: Forced Displacement," RAFDI Director John Thon Majok sat down with Martha Guerrero Ble, Advocate, Refugees International; and panel speakers Alejandra Botero Barco, Director General of the Department of Planning in Colombia; Elizabeth Campbell, Deputy Assistant Secretary, Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration, U.S. Department of State; Xavier Devictor, Co-director of the 2023 World Development Report, World Bank; Thomas Ginn, Fellow, Center for Global Development; and Anila Noor, Refugee-Activist, TEDx Speaker, and Researcher.
The World Bank’s World Development Report 2023, “Migrants, Refugees, and Societies,” proposes an integrated framework to maximize the development impacts of cross-border movements on both destination and origin countries and on migrants and refugees themselves. On April 28, 2023, The Center for Global Development, Refugees International, and the World Bank Group held an event to launch the World Development Report 2023. During this event, the authors provided a presentation of the report followed by a forced displacement panel discussion, which focused on key takeaways from the report and finding sustainable solutions to refugee crises.
