Project Summary

Presents the life of the Russian-American entreprenuer/author P.A. Dement’ev (Tverskoi) and examines his role of propogating an image of America in Russian popular and official culture. Asks who was leading whom in the task of describing the New World for late-empire Russians, and the what the image of America that this wave of amerikanisty were together producing.
