At this weekend’s “Cairo Summit for Peace,” Arab leaders widely condemned the Israeli bombardment of Gaza, calling for an immediate end to the offensive. But how neighboring countries will respond if/when Israel launches a ground invasion remains unclear. Ambassador James Jeffrey, Chair of the Wilson Center's Middle East Program, provides insights on regional pressures and influences. He comments on how surrounding Arab states view Hamas, why Jordan and Egypt need Israel, the constraints Hezbollah faces, and whether or not Iran is likely to escalate its involvement in the war.
