Overview

The United States-Mexico bilateral relationship is unique in the world, bound by geographical, commercial, historical, and cultural ties. This year, both countries will celebrate 200 years of formal diplomatic relations.

In commemoration of this milestone, the Mexico Institute hosted an event on September 13th launching Dolia Estévez’ latest book “Mexico, A Challenging Assignment: US Ambassadors Share Their Experiences,” an updated version of her 2012 work published by the Wilson Center. This presentation was followed by a presentation from Ambassador Roberta Lajous on her book, “Embajadores de Estados Unidos en México. Diplomacia de crisis y oportunidades.” After the book presentations, an expert panel discussed the trajectory of US-Mexico bilateral relations and the importance of this diplomatic relationship.
