The Sochi Winter Olympics are set to open in less than a month, and anticipation is building. Two recent terror attacks in the Russian city of Volgograd underscore concerns about security, but the event will raise other important questions as well.

What do the Games say about Russia’s prospects for stability and growth, or about the broader Caucasus region? Will Russia’s turbulent domestic politics steal center stage or remain a sideshow?
