Full Biography

Matthew Stibbe is Professor of Modern European History at Sheffield Hallam University and a specialist in twentieth-century Germany. He has co-edited, with Kevin McDermott, five volumes of essays on post-1945 Eastern Europe: Revolution and Resistance in Eastern Europe: Challenges to Communist Rule (Berg, 2006); Stalinist Terror in Eastern Europe: Elite Purges and Mass Repression (Manchester University Press, 2010); The 1989 Revolutions in Central and Eastern Europe: From Communism to Pluralism (Manchester University Press, 2013); De-Stalinising Eastern Europe: The Rehabilitation of Stalin's Victims after 1953 (Palgrave, 2015); and Eastern Europe in 1968: Responses to the Prague Spring and Warsaw Pact Invasion (Palgrave, 2018).
