Dr. Geng Zhi, is associate professor of School of History and Culture of Tianjin Normal University in China. His main fields of academic interests lie in the diplomatic history of the U.S. and U.K., the international relations history of 20th Century. Now international history of strategic raw material, such as uranium, rare-earths metals, is the subject of his research.

Project Summary

For controlling the fission materials of the world,Combined Development Trust was established by the US and UK governments in June of 1944, who were jointly carrying out the Manhattan Project. In late 1945, CDT countries controlled 97% of worldwide uranium ore and 65% of thorium ore. When the USSR and P. R. China entered the nuclear club, the struggle for the fission materials became one of the field of Cold War.
