Monde Muyangwa Presents at the 2017 Africa Think Tank Sustainability Forum

On November 3-4, 2017, Africa Program Director Monde Muyangwa participated in the 2017 Africa Think Tank Sustainability Forum hosted by Brookings Institution and the Wilson Center, coordinated by  University of Pennsylvania’s Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP), and Fundação Getúlio Vargas (FGV), with support from Carnegie Corporation of New York.

The Forum convened leading African think tanks, public and private contributors, and policymakers to identify strategies to combat the think tank sustainability crisis in Africa. Dr. Muyangwa spoke on the opening panel “Understanding the Think Tank Sustainability Crisis In Africa and Its Potential Impact on Think Tanks, Policy Makers and the Public” and the closing panel “Realizing Sustainable Future for Africa’s Think Tanks: An Action Agenda.” In addition to her own perspective on this topic, Dr. Muyangwa conveyed insights from leaders within the Africa Program’s Southern Voices Network for Peacebuilding network of 21 African think tanks.  Forum participants came away with a greater idea of how African think tanks can enhance their capacity, improve the quality of their scholarship, and ensure financial sustainability.
