As reported by the media, the collection of Romanian documents published by the North Korean International Documentation Project revealed North Korea’s strategies to destabilize the South Korean regime through the July 4, 1972, Joint Communique between South Korea and North Korea. The media reports highlighted shifts in North Korea’s strategies toward reunification from 1972 through 1975, which occurred as a result of changes in South Korean politics, and North Korea's attempts to isolate South Korea through an international diplomatic offensive.
