La Cancillería explicó en un comunicado que los estudios servirán como apoyo para el funcionamiento de la Comisión Nacional para la Reforma de la Política de Drogas, que preside el ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, Fernando Carrera.

Los estudios se deberán enfocar en analizar la estructura normativa y aplicación de la legislación sobre las drogas en el territorio nacional.
También en investigar acerca de variables relativas a la oferta y demanda de drogas en el país.
