A review of journalist Ricardo Lessa’s book, Brazil and the United States: What Made the Difference

This article discusses the book Brasil e Estados Unidos: O que Fez a Diferença [Brazil and the United States: What Made the Difference], journalist Ricardo Lessa’s 2008 work,  which is a gripping comparative interpretation of the social, cultural, and economic factors that determined the success of the United States, and have frustrated to the present day the Brazilian dream of repeating the North-American accomplishment in the tropics. The piece is part of a compliation of essays written by Brazilian scholars of the United States and Brazil-U.S. relations, organized by Brazil Institute Global Fellow Carlos Eduardo Lins da Silva and published by RevistaUSP.

O artigo aborda o livro Brasil e Estados Unidos: O que Fez a Diferença, trabalho que o jornalista Ricardo Lessa publicou em 2008 pela Editora Civilização Brasileira e que é uma estimulante interpretação comparativa sobre os fatores sociais, culturais e econômicos que determinaram o sucesso dos Estados Unidos e frustraram, até aqui, o sonho brasileiro de repetir o feito norte-americano nos trópicos. O artigo faz parte de uma compilação de ensaios escritos por especialistas brasileiros sobre os Estados Unidos e relações Brasil-EUA, organizado pelo Brazil Institute Global Fellow Carlos Eduardo Lins da Silva e publicado pela Revista USP.
