Overview

The widely discussed Pandora Papers include several explosive revelations, including the financial dealings of President Putin’s alleged former mistress, his billionaire friend Gennady Timchenko, and the CEO of Russia’s largest state television channel, Konstantin Ernst. The Pandora project involved some 600 journalists from 117 countries, including Russia. But whereas in most countries the major media outlets handled the investigations, in Russia the burden fell to independent journalists. Journalists Ilya Lozovsky, Svetlana Reiter, Roman Shleinov, and Sergey Parkhomenko will discuss the role of Russian journalists in Pandora Papers and the difficulties that investigative journalists face in Russia today.
